This article looks at the production of sewing thread, it looks at assembly winding, finish application, singeing and finish winding, where the process chain and its machines ensure the quality of the end product. Twisted spun yarns are essential where single yarns no longer satisfy the requirements. Perfectly twisted yarns are characterised by two threads twisted together symmetrically; this is only possible when the threads enter the twisting zone together, under the same tension. This is carried out by an assembly-wound package which ensures that the threads enter the twist tube jointly. The article then discusses the economic aspects of twisting.
