Effect of cross section of spandex yarn on air drag (Japanese)

The effect of the yarn cross section on the air drag coefficient and characteristic length of spandex yarn which does not have a circular cross section, was examined. The way to estimate the air drag of spandex yarns in axisymmetric air flow are shown and the results obtained are as follows. The air drag coefficient of the spandex yarn shows similar tendency to that of the flat plate rather than those of cylindrical curvature in the thin yarn because it has remarkable irregularities in its cross section; the drag coefficient for the free end yarn is twice as much as that for the fixed end yarn and the flat plate.
