Reseachers investigated the effect of yarn cross section on the air drag coefficient and characteristics length of spandex yarns. Results from axisymmetric air flow analysis showed that, due to the irregularities of the yarn cross section, the air drag coefficient of the spandex yarn was similar to the effect of a flat plate. The drag coefficient for the fixed end yarn was the same as that for a flat plate. The drag coefficient for the free and yarn was twice that of a flat plate. 7 refs.
