Experimental investigation into loop forming (loss of stability) by turning of threads

An experimental study of the stress-strain state of threads at twisting, both on the steady straining stage and on the unsteady straining stage (a loop formation), is presented. As objects of study monofilament threads, complex threads, and yarn were used. The experimental installation allows for measuring the dependence of torque on the twist angle at a given tensile force, and thread truncation at twisting. Experimental research into effects which accompany thread stability loss at twisting was carried out. New experimental results concerning critical values of parameters at which thread stability loss takes place and the qualitative representation about the loop formation process at thread twisting were obtained.
