Best practices in the plastic recycling industry improve polyethylene terephthalate (PET) processability, productivity, and efficiency. Benefits include improving market competitiveness, achieving economic efficiency, meeting feedstock requirements, and enchancing product performance. The Clean Washington Center (CWC) is developing a manual for best practices in PET recycling. The manual includes information on collection, handling, and processing recycled PET. It includes a thorough discussion of contamination issues, such as non-PET plastic, incompatible bottles, residuals, labels, and nonmelting particulate contaminants. CWC's manual serves as the foundation for workshops presented by recycling technology service providers.
