The consumption of polyefin has increased sharply over the last few years. It is found in various forms according to the application. The consumption of fibres has increased mainly as coverstock for hygiene products and in the carpet velvet areas, and they are also used for the making of big bags. Filaments are used as velvet yarns for carpets. The consumption of nonwovens is growing thanks to spunbond and melt blown products and are developed in the medical and hygiene areas. Composite systems, nonwoven composite with laminated film and bio-composed filbres are giving birth to new applications in this dynamic market. New polypropylene grades will be commercialised as fibres and films and the madical world will used them as soon as a sterile grade is available.
