when the zweigle g555 staff tester is used to measure the attrition produced by yarn self friction there are two ways in which the yarn loop may be formed: the so called 'right' and 'left' directions. according to the maker of the apparatus, if the yarn twist sense is z, the 'right' loop produces a more drastic effect than the 'left' loop. a study of the subsequent hairiness modification was also made. 5 refs
