Akyo Nobel Aramid Products has introduced an aramid fibre variant, Twaron 2200, which is claimed to bridge the gap between intermediate-modulus aramid fibres and aerospace grade high-modulus materials. As Twaron 2200 is produced in one step it offers an economic alternative in a number of applications requiring high-grade engineering materials. It is also claimed to be non-corrosive, has a negative thermal coefficient of expansion and has superior insulation properties.
