Kevlar aramid fiber is based on a polymer compositions which contains para-oriented chain sigment. The para oriented chain configurations imparts lyotropics liquid crystal behaviour to its anisotropic solution to give rise to a high strength, high modulus fiber of Kevlar aramid. This article describes the fibre, its products, applications, properties and technological impact. It is predicted that future technological development will probably dictate a further increase in the mechanical and thermal properties of the fibre.
