Researchers studied the occurrence of yarn imperfections after winding, focusing on winding tension levels and speeds and the effect of repeated winding. Data showed that tension during winding and speed of winding had little effect on the number of yarn imperfections. Repeated winding of ring spun yarn showed increased levels of yarn imperfections in the first and third windings and decreased levels of imperfections in the second winding. Rotor spun yarn showed similar patterns, but with smaller differences in the number of yarn faults between windings. 7 refs.
