Allied has patented a treatment that improves the wet abrasion resistance of yarns and cords. The process involves applying an aqueous over-finish that is based on a mixture of two compounds. Ideally, the yarns to be treated should be polyester, polyamide, or polyolefin yarns. The treatment is applied to yarns used for marine applications, such as towing, anchoring, deep sea mooring, and nets.
