By means of the Zweigle G 555 Staff Tester, 32 cotton spun yarns of the same linear density and twist but from different fiber stocks were analyzed for attrition and weight loss through abrasion. Ratio output/input readings and percentage of weight loss were related to the fiber parameters by means of the backward and the stepwise regressions. A relationship was found between length parameters and the fineness-maturity complex; loss of weight through abrasion was correlated with yarn hairiness. 14 refs.
