Knowledge concerning the inner structure of blended yarns is necessary to predict yarn behavior during processing. Researchers developed a method for examining blended yarns that is based on cross section and radial analysis and that takes into account yarn unevenness, arrangement of fibers in yarn, yarn packing density, and yarn blending ratio. Analysis of yarn cross sections is suitable for basic research into the inner structure and structural mechanics of blended yarns. Yarn packing density is closely connected with problems of fiber pressing in the yarns and with the definition of yarn diameter and yarn twist. 2 refs.
