A study examined the importance of determining the packing fraction functions for various types of yarn and their role in obtaining new empirical formulae for fiber-yarn production and more comprehensive fiber-yarn computer simulation models. Researchers examined the determination of packing fraction function from real time fiber-yarn production measurements, the simplest relationships between linear density and diameter, and their influence on the packing fraction. Mathematical equations described the relationships between packing fraction function and helix angle, rate of migration, and paths of migration.
