In complex yarns, filaments do not break simultaneously when the maximum breaking load is achieved, so the failure process is prolonged. A load elongation curve was measured at various clamped lengths to analyze the extension process of. Terlon and Lavsan, two complex yarns with similar twist coefficients. Results showed that at a certain length, pressure that causes filament breaking is applied to either the inner or outer filaments, and that a lower nonuniformity in breaking characteristics exists in elementary filaments. A method for evaluating nonuniformity in the breaking characteristics of elementary filaments in a complex yarn is proposed.
