Zellweger Uster's Uster Tester 4-SX is an optoelectronic testing machine that operates online to measure yarn diameter, thick places, thin places, neps, density, hairiness, and weight and statistically analyze these data. The testing machine uses the two dimensional OM sensor, which consists of a high resolution camera and an integrated analog sensor. The OM sensor transmits infrared radiation to create a primary image of the yarn with the Photo ASIC system. The sensitivity of the system generates highly accurate and precise data. Statistical analysis determines the average yarn diameter, the coefficient of variation of yarn diameter for 8 and 0.3 millimeter lengths, the coefficient of variations of yarn diameter in one dimension in 0.3 millimeter lengths, and the average density based on the nominal linear weight.
