Conventional quality control for filament yarns remains piecemeal. Measurable dimensions are indirectly connected to processing features, dyeing uniformity, and reproducibility. Enka tecnica's online yarn testing devices measure the appropriate parameters along the entire length of the yarn dring manufacture. Fraytec online yarn scanners determine filament breaks in spinning processes and determine entanglement, spin finish, and yarn purity. The scanner sensor is a grid capacitor embedded in a transparent ceramic mass. An electric alternate current is applied to this capacitor, and the yarn passes through an electric field on the ceramic surface. A change in capacitance occurs when the surface covered by the yarn or the distance between the arn mass focal point and sensor changes. Fraytec scanners are suitable for measuring yarn denier, entanglement, and lubricant application.
