Researchers examined the individual and combined effects of overfeed, air pressure, and texturing speed on the stability of air jet textured yarns. Experiments with air jet textured yarns prepared from 70 denier/72 polyester filament yarn showed that increases in overfeed and texturing speed increased yarn instability. Increases in air pressure reduced yarn instability at low texturing speeds but increased yarn instability at higher texturing speeds. Results established a general relationship between instability and the process variables in coded form. 11 refs.
