A study determined the influence of such parameters as assembly and twisting nozzle pressures, yarn count, and material type on the properties of two ply air jet spun yarns manufactured using a spin assembly winding machine on the PLYfiL system. Changes in nozzle pressure affected the tenacity, irregularity, and hairiness of untwisted and twisted yarns. Lower pressures improved the tenacity of twisted yarns. Fiber and sliver properties also affected yarn quality. 8 refs.
