A study to simulate fabrics based on yarn components and fabric design data is developing a mathematical model to simulate the dynamics of fabrics subjected to external stress. Initial results confirmed the necessity of modeling yarns before modeling fabrics. Researchers developed an adapted yarn geometry and model featuring a system of juxtaposed bars integrating yarn dynamic behavior; generated coefficients for such dynamic components of the model as traction, bending, air viscous friction, and mass; and determined the influence of these components on the dynamic behavior of falling yarns. 14 refs.
