Dynamics of Starting Up and Slowing Down Pneumatically Transported Yarn -- The Yarn Stary-Up.

Researchers studied such yarn motion parameters as resistance to motion, yarn linear mass, and air jet mean velocity during yarn transport and such yarn startup parameters as time of transport, velocities, yarn acceleration, and yarn dynamic load. Increased air velocity decreased yarn transport time, whereas changes in yarn linear mass did not change yarn transport time. Aerodynamic and inertial forces during startup did not cause yarn rupture. Yarn maximum acceleration during startup was directly proportional to the constant velocity of the yarn transport and inversely proportional to the startup time. 5 refs.
