Researchers compared the hand, tenacity, breaking extension, and flexural rigidity of fabrics knit from Murata twist spun and Murata jet spun polyester/viscose yarns. Doubling increased the tenacity, breaking extension, and flexural rigidity of both yarns. The increase in tenacity, breaking extension, and flexural rigidity was greater in twist spun doubled yarns. Knit fabrics manufactured from twist yarns were softer than those manufactured from jet spun yarns before and after finishing. Finished fabrics were softer than gray and bleached fabrics for both types of yarns. 7 refs.
