To be competitive in the denim trade, fabric mills must continuously invest in state of the art process technology. Mount Vernon Mills, headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, has spent more than $350 million in the past decade on plant modernization. Mount Vernon's modernization program has focused on three goals: to improve product quality, to increase flexibility in order to meet changing market conditions, and to produce goods at lower costs. The company operates over 400 Sulzer Rueti looms and a custom built GMC rope dyeing range. This equipment permits Mount Vernon to produce high quality fabric consistently. A computer system linked directly to the dyeing machinery ensures high quality dyeing.
