Polymer dispersions are generally characterized and described accoring to their polymer content. However, in order to determine the full extent of their effectiveness on a textile and, with increasing significance today, their impact on the environment, additives used in their production or added as part of a recipe must also be considered. These additives include dispersing agests and protective colloids. Are the environmental problems caused by the polymer or the additives? This question is discussed from the environmental point of view.
