Effects of commercial textile fibres, deodorizing bed-wadding fibres, and deodorants on ammonia removal were investigated using the gas detection tube method. The higher the fibre moisture content, the more ammonia was removed. Residual acid compounds in dyed fibres resulted in neutralization of ammonia. The removal effect of the residual acid compounds was similar to that of commercial deodorizing fibres. The residual acid compounds also maintained good colourfastness to laundering with neutral detergents.
