Degradation of Either Filament Weft or Cotton Warp Yarns in Union Fabrics During Wet Processing - Four Case Studies.

When fabrics with cotton warp and polyester filament weft yarns ar wet processed under normal conditions, mills are often faced with the problem of warp or weft yarn degradation. Four Indian case studies examine the damage to bleached polyester filament, bleached cotton warp, and dyed cotton warp yarns. Polyester fibers ae attected by high concentrations of caustic soda, temperature and long reaction times. Cotton fibers are damaged by excess acid and sodium hypochlorite.
