Two dimensional TLC quantitatively determined the distribution of EO oligimers i ethoxylated alkylphenol carboxymethyl ether salts. The researchers separated a mixure of ethoxylated alkylphenol carboxymethyl ether salts and unconverted ethoxylated alkylphenol ether with the first eluent, which was them developed at right angles with the second eluent to resolve the individual oligomer adducts. Densitometric parameters included tha degree of conversion, average ethoxylate number, and molecular distribution. Results indicated that two dimensional TLC distribution. Results indicated tha two dimensional TLC and scanning densitometry accurately characterized the distribution of EO oligomers in anionic surfactants. 10 refs.
