Continuous conveyor dryers are designed to gently handle continuous tow, cut stapel, or polymer, and thermally process the product for commercial use. Production rate, moisture content, presence of solvents, denier, incoming and exiting temperature, conditioning requirements, and material handling characteristics are improtant drying parameters. The most common process control system includes separate air flow and temperature zone arrangements arrived at through a mass energy balance ant thermal processing curve. Other improtant dryer components include steam sparge systems, air cascade systems, and online cleaning and maintenance systems. The design of conveyors and product feeders is also improtant.
