Micrex Corporation of Walpole, Massachusetts, was founded in the early 1960s by Richard R. Walton. Walton is the inventor of the Micrex Microcreper, a converting machine that imparts softness, bulk, and elasticity ot nonwoven fabric and paper roll goods. The Microcreper crepes 76 inch wide fabric in an infinitesimally small manner, producing creped material with an average weight of 17 grams per square meter. The Micrex Microcreper converts spun laced and wet laid roll goods for the healthcare and medical textiles personal care, and disposable wipes markets Although medical end uses represent its largest market, Micrex also converts a variety of spun bonded, thermal bonded, and needle punched nonwonven fabrics, and plans to expand into the geotextiles market.
