Ciba Geigy's 'Color Trend Kaleidoscope,' recently published in Switzerland, forecasts color trends for the 1994-1995 European home furnishings and household textiles market. The report specifies three design concepts: 'security,' defined as an opulent, baroque style characterized by warm, strong colors and patterns inspired by nature; 'urbanity,' defined as a simple, plain style characterized by abstract geometric patterns; and 'vegetation,' defined as an unsophisticated, elemental style characterized by the exotic atmosphere of the tropics. Colors associated with security include snidine, topaz, rose quartz, citrine, carneol, rubine, jet, axinite, and purpurite. Colors associated with urbanity include apohyllite, tansanite, aquamerine, moonstone, amethyst, sapphire, hematite, smoked quartz, and spinel. Colors associated with vegetatio include truquoise, jade, beryllium, turmaline, emerald, periodot, epidote, malachite, and diopside.
