Datacolor International recently introduced its Dataline portable spectrophotometer. According to the Swiss company, the Dataline facilitates on-site, laboratory standard color measurements of many different fabric types. The Dataline uses a pulsed xenon light source in conjunction with a dual beam comparative spectrophotometer. An integral muicroprocessor stores reference standards and provides a wide selection of color difference data and pass/vail criteria. A double automaic traverse ensures precisely aligned measurements over the entire width of a fabric sample. If a fault is detected, the Dataline immediately warns the operator and activates its colsed circuit camera, transferring an image of the fault onto its CRT display.
