Salts and textile auxiliaries influence the formation of insoluble complexes of dyes with the ligand curcurbituril. Because the salts complex with the curcurbituril, they compete with the dyes. A similar competition with surfactants is possible if parts of the surfactant molecule are located inside a hydrophobic cavity of the curcurbituril. Miscellar solubilization of the dye complexes is sometimes observed. 18 refs.
