Farmer Norton's jetvac continuous open width washing machine, which was introduced at ITMA 1991, processes a wide range of fabrics including cotton, viscose, wool, and their blends. Washing removes such chemicals as size and caustic soda in preparation to other finishing processes. The Jetvac sprays fabrics with small quantities of washing liquor at high velocities. The use of high pressure nozzles and vacuum suction to remove the liquor ensures the high velocity of the spray. The jetvac achieves excellent economies of space through the elimination of some of the large components in conventional machines. Compact, light wight suction tubes replace heavy wight squeeze rolls. The machine requires no foundation and no drain pits.
