In its new line of elastic tape finishing machines, Mageba has returned to a starch finsih, rather than a polyvinyl alcohol and resin finish, because chemically initaited and/or reinforced shirinkages is replaced with mechanical shrinkage. Trials have shown a 20 percent increase in resideual the finish padder. The finish padder is followd by a dancer arm to effect automatic tension and speed control before the drying cylinder. A segmented return roller above the drying chamber coupled with a fabric overfeed onto the cylinder further enhances shrinkage. Another shrinkage device with a poststeamin box follows the cylinder dryer. Mageba's elastic tape finishing machine incorporates an EZ-type in-feed box with J-box fabric stroage.
