In this letter to the editor, Warren J. Jasper responds to comments by L. Vangheluwe and associates about the importance of verification and validation of models generated using cumulative back propagation. To validate the model, Jasper used a three out or 21 way cross validation and a one out cross validation. These validations indicated that the accuracy of the back propagation method was highly dependent on the input data, the pre-and post-scaling of the data, the learning rete, and the network configuration. 2 refs.
