Polychromatic Dyeing. Part 1. Quantitative - Multicomponent Spectroscopic Analysis.

When textile dyers attempt polychromatic dyeings they must know the strike through of each individual dye within the mixture to optimze the dyebath recipe and attain maximum processing reliability. A study based on the trichromatic dyeing of cotton with direct dyes demonstrates that it is possible to obtain the exact concentration of each individual dye within a mixture by conducting quantitiative multicomponent spectroscopic analysis and subjecting the data to multiple linear statistical regression. The analysis accounts for chemical interactions between different dyes in the dyebath. 39 refs.
