In the textile industry wet processing operations are the chief cause of water pollution. The removal of colour from, e.g. dyeing effluents, is a major concern. The effectiveness of decolourization treatments such as membrane filtration, ion exxhange, surfactant precipitation, asorption techniques and electrokinetic coagulation. These methods have met with little commercial success because of their high costs. In adition they apply to selecteed dyes only. There are 24 references.
