Impriving energy efficiency in the textile sector: heat recovery from waste water

The paper discusses low-cost technology designed to improve the energy efficiency of existing traditionally inefficient machinery such as that used in the textile sector. The RCR heat exchanger is an apparatus which be used to recover heat in continous processes using hot water, such as washing, bleaching or rinsing after dyeing. Its efficiency is around 70％, but its installation is simple, its effect is immediate and its environmental impact is low. The use and cost effectiveness of the RCR heat exchanger is illustrated with reference to its use by Soc. Tronconi Spa, a medium-sized cotton finishing firm.
