Technological developments in the continuous dyeing of polyester and cellulosic fabric and their belends have focused on cost control through increases in productivity and decreases in energy consumption, on the integration or right first time and Quick Response conepts, and on the improvement of environmental safety. A critical strategy in achieving high efficiency, particularly with short runs, is the ability to empty, clean, and refill the padding equipment quickly. Uniform pressure during padding is important to right first time dyeing. The use of infrared predryers ensures optimal residual moisture content prior to dyeing. Automatic cleaning of rollers in hot flue dryers used after dyeing contributes significantly to icreased productivity. Online measurement and monitoring of dyeing functions have many benefits, particularly waste reduction.
