The optimal utilization of process water in the textile industry is discussed, with particular attention to the reuse of bleaching and rinsing baths in batch-type pretreatment. This approach offers considerable economic advantages. Some of the savings involved are tabulated. Further savings can be made by changes to process variables, so reducing polluting discharges and combining ecological and economic objectives.
