Influence of type and application level of fibre additives in wool processing

During the course of these investigation, 5 generic groupings of fibre processing aid have been identified, into which nearly all processing aids recommended for topmaking may be classified. While it is difficult to comment on the performance of specific fibre processing assistants, it is evident that the ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymer and fatty acid ester types performed consistently well in controlled conditions in terms of end breaks and yarn properties, although under uncontrolled conditions, the wax emulsion appears to retain its properties much better than the other types.
