The guidelines specify effluent limitations for BPT (best predictable control technology currently available), BAT (best available technology economically achievable), NSPS (new source performance standards), and PSNS (pretreatment standards for new sources) categories under the authority of Sections 301, 304, 306, 307, and 501 of the Clean Water Act.
