Trends in the dyeing and finishing sector of the textiles industry are reviewed. Energy, water use and waste discharges are important issues in the wet processing field. A major innovation is the use of vacuum technology in open width, continuous washing to provide efficiency, cost and pollution-abatement advantages. Trends in yarn dyeing and drying are also discussed.
