A wide range of factors, including the introduction of microfibers, the increasing importance of right first time production, and rising energy costs, drive technological developments in the textile wet processing sector. To remain competitive in world markets, the Indian textile wet processing sector will have to invest in at least some of these new technologies and machines. An overview of these developments focuses on preparatory processes, dyeing, printing, and finishing. The overview includes descriptions of products from major manufacturing companies for each sector. Developments in dyeing also covers new dyes and dyeing assistants particularly those that have been introduced to replace more toxic chemicals. 24 refs.
