Fong/Henriksen's air jet dyeing machine is designed to overcome mechanical problems normally associated with the dyeing of microfibers. It features short turnaround times, dyeing with low liquor ratios, and a fully automated process that allows for the changing conditions of the fabric over the dyeing cycle. Exchange of dye liquor does not take place in the jet nozzle while the fabric is in rope form, as with most air jet dyeing machines. Instead, the Fong/Henriksen machine features a funnel shaped device that spreads the fabric as it exits the nozzle, thus achieving more level dyeing. Dye liquor is sprayed evenly onto the fabric from two separate dyeing tubes. Fabric speed inside the dye vessel is kept constant by a frequency invertor, which regulates the blower. The bottom of the storage chamber is lined with a Teflon sheet to facilitate high speed fabric running. The Fong/Henriksen air jet machine is suitable for dyeing a wide variety of fabrics, but is particularly effective at dyeing pure synthetic fabrics at liquor ratios as low as 3:1.
