Scientists at the Technical University of Budapest investigated the accuracy of corrective color matching programs for dyeings on fabrics with different dyeability or optical appearances. The substrates chosen for the experiments included two kinds of cotton and two kinds of nylon circular knit fabrics. Nylon dyeings utilized 11 acid dyes, and cotton dyeings utilized nine direct dyes. The researchers used Pantone color samples to evaluate the accuracy of the colors and color matchings. An ICS-TEXICON TCM4 instrument performed the color matching calculations and measured the resulting shades. The experiments demonstrated that correlative color matching can be successful, even when used on fabrics with different dyeability or optical properties. 4 refs.
