Spiral-wound membrane technology, developed by Desalination Systems Inc., has been evaluated for the treatment of textile effluent. The technology incorporates a modular element design with proprietary membranes for a range of fluid separations. Design and operation of the system are outlined. Trials have been carried out at the Technical University of Denmark on the removal of dyes from an apparel rinse stream using nano- and ultrafiltration units.
