Ozone treatment to remove color from wastewater could be a solution to the problem of color pollution. All of the classes of dyes used in the textile industry are removed from wastewater to a certain extent, some poorly and others almost completely. Ozone also can aid in removing some other pollutants like surfactants and carriers that are commonly found in textile wet processing wastewaters. The processing of waste at its source is a new approach to waste treatment. Color removal is a prime example of the advantages of this method. Color removal immediately following the dyeing process increases the efficiency and the economics of ozonation.
