Ozone treatment of dyehouse effluents is helpful for removing color from the wastewater after the completion of biological treatments. Under suitable operating conditions, ozone also acts as a powerful oxidizer that reduces the total organic carbon content (TOC) in organic pollutants. Experiments conducted in a laboratory confirmed the TOC abatement properties of ozone treatment on real effluent samples that were taken from a wool dyeing mill. Higher process temperature facilitated the treatment's performance. 11 refs.
