The firm Sclavos SA announced the launch of a new option on its Apollon Twin flow soft dyeing machine. Conscious of growing demands imposed on fabric dyers to reduce the consumption of water, both to cut down on costs as well a to respond to the new global consciousness for environmental protection, the company disigned Microwash, a special washing system that can be used in its successful Apollon dyeing machines. With this system, clean hot water can be introduced directly to the nozzles, where the fabric is cleaned efficiently due to the high interchange of liquid dye in the jet tube. Tests showed a 50 percent reduction in water use in the rinsing of reagents used with dyes prior to soaping, as well as a 70 percent itme savings (with a savings of approximately $.03 per pound of fabric), which translates into a total savings of 67 percent of costs.
